A small farmstead photographed across a single afternoon of late-winter light.

Notes

A small working farm at the edge of a thawing river, photographed twice across a single afternoon. The weather was doing everything it could to make the rest of the trip difficult.

Setting

Sheltered bend in the river
Single farm road running past, no fence line in the frame
Low sun from the west for roughly forty-five minutes

Approach

Both frames hand-held. The aim was to keep the farm small in the frame and let the valley do the work.

Outcome

Only the roof moved

The house sits where it has always sat. A steady subject for a steady kind of picture.
